More tastings to come in September.
In the meantime I have a question for you. What is your 'go to' whisky? The whisky that you would reach out for when you simply want a whisky to drink. No obligation to 'dissect', 'evaluate' or 'taste'. A whisky to comfort, not challenge you.
Most likely this will not be the most impressive, dramatic or expensive whisky at hand but the one you know well and enjoy.
Over the years the choice may change. For me it used to be the delightfully straightforward and reliable Glenfiddich 12 year old and then, for many years, I always made sure I had some Balvenie Double Wood near by. But in the last few years I have moved on to one of the great blends, the Johnnie Walker Green Label. A wonderful marriage of 15+ year old single malts from multiple distilleries (can we call this a Multiple Malt Whisky?). It disappeared for a few years but is now back.
A relaxed balance of peat smoke, spices, and salty seaside flavors on top of a serious cereal base with a slightly drier, almost aromatic finish.
What is your 'go to' whisky ?
